Tourist Spots

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

I met a guy in Brazil that was considering starting up a travel gear business centered on tailoring solutions to the customer.  By that I mean having a basic pack or pair of pants, then having options to customize by pockets, features, etc.  It sounded like a great idea to me after having trouble finding certain features in travel gear that I like, although making that work as a business seems like it would have lots of challenges inherent in custom designing something.

Thoughts?  Would there be a market for customizable travel gear?  Would seasoned travelers go for this?

Brazil!

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

My trip to Brazil just came to a close, and let me tell you… I’m hooked.  The beaches, the culture, the food, the women, they’ve got it all.  Florianópolis was an absolute blast, and the perfect getaway from Buenos Aires.  You can quickly lose yourself in the slow pace of life there, especially if you partake in their caipirhinas.  Our hostel bartender, Jay, made a particularly deadly variety.

I’d recommend Florianópolis to anyone that is looking for a beach vacation, be it a nutso party plan or yearning for a secluded spot.  The island has such a range of beaches that everyone can find what they’re looking for.  I’ll be back again soon I’m sure, packed for a longer stay!

After the sauna-like weather in Buenos Aires over the last few days I was really happy about the rain that swept through last night.  Three or four straight days of of scalding and humid days can take it out of ... [Continue reading this entry]

Just How I Like ‘Em, Cheap and Easy

Monday, November 17th, 2008
Being that I'm dirt poor working in Buenos Aires, I try to take advantage of every free activity the city offers.  Any posters or flyers that I see around town for free openings or discount nights are duly noted to ... [Continue reading this entry]

Beaches!

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

I've been feelin' a hankering for the beach lately, and it's high time I got away from the city for a bit.  I'm thinking Brazil is going to be my mission for Christmas this year, since I can't get home ... [Continue reading this entry]

Inspiration

Friday, November 7th, 2008
What things inspire you to travel?  My first real taste of long-term travel was right when I graduated high school, going on a two month biking trip in Europe with one of my best friends.  To this day it's still ... [Continue reading this entry]

Carryin’ around Town

When I'm in town and have a hostel to crash at, I make sure that I only carry the bare minimum -- only my essentials.  Any important documents or credit cards, etc., are kept either in my locker at the ... [Continue reading this entry]
