Ushuaia, Ar – It´s the end of the world as we know it!

truck in the south.JPGAfter 30,000 or so kilometers (who is counting?), the road ends here. Anybody interested in buying a gently used Ford Explorer?  It comes with tattered maps of Central and South America.

Any further south, ya need a boat.

Damned beavers, beaver dam.

Another sign for any skeptics, Maaatttt, who  may think we pulled a ‘Capricorn One.’ If you have not seen this movie, try to rent it.  It has some fine acting by the one and only OJ Simpson.

It gets a little windy at the bottom of the world.

And a little boggy.

Lots of birds, yep. A little guano, too. birds.JPG

They have a very nice prison museum in town.

I think I know these guys from the hostel. (Hey, backpackers, chill out, I joke.) dan in prison.JPG

Before we got to the end of the world, we crossed the Straits of Magellan where there is… wait for it… wait for it… a SHIPWRECK or two! resizedmagellanship2_1.jpg

Congrats on your trip to the tip AND on Dan’s great job offer. I’ve had such a good time reading about the trip. I think I’ve been there. I’m going to be disappointed when we all have to go home.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. We still have a couple thousand more miles to get to Buenos Aires and we will fill in the gaps in our narrative when time presents itself in a non-smoking internet cafe. Also, we will choke you with photos once we get home and have photo software for downloading.

Wow! What an awesome journey. Thanks so much for sending the post card so we could share in the fun! The stories your Ford Explorer could tell!

You both look great by the way! Enjoy the ride…. Joya

Congratulations Dan and Giselle!!!! you made it to the ‘bottom’ of the world. It was fun to point out the tip of Argentina to Becca last night as we were playing Risk and say “that’s were your aunt and uncle are right now”! Becca really likes Risk, the game of world domination (go figure). Anyway, thanks for calling mom, she got it on the answering machine and played it for me 🙂 You really are far from home! NO thanks on the Ford….
    Love,Shira

I have a theory that you two have been in Glover Park this whole time and are just really good at Photoshop. Am I right?

Giselle — I met Ken Jennings. How cool is that?
