Ripio Rodeo

Ripio is the Argentine word for gravel road.  We have driven thousands (at least two thousand we figure, but who´s counting?) of miles on the stuff.  Long stretches in Argentina are just straight with gently rolling hills. There is a portion of Route 40 between Bajo Caracoles and El Chalten that is 200 miles with only a few estancias (large ranches) and not a lot else.  No gas stations, no Burger Kings, no nothing.  You can cruise at highway speed on the gravel and it is a heck of a lot of fun when the truck starts to drift sideways.
