Where did the time go? I’m 48 years old!!
Well, my birthday has come and gone (on April Fool’s Day no less!). I can’t believe an entire month has gone by since I last posted on my blog. The only excuse I can give is that I’ve been busy… Spring, or is it summer, has finally hit Hangzhou; temperatures skyrocketed to 30 degrees today! Many of the surrounding trees and flowers are in full bloom, and with the warmer weather, things are really looking up around here.
Our social lives are improving too. In the last couple of weeks a number of regular activities have started up: monthly Teachers’ Night at the Paradise Bar on Hubin Lu, Wednesday night Serial Diners events, Tuesday night Running Club, weekend hikes… It’s all good! Up until now, only drinking events have been organized for the expats here in Hangzhou. I truly believe that more foreigners will consider a long-term stay here if there is a decent social life.
Last Friday evening my school organized an awesome “English Corner Activity Night”. We invited tons of students and put them into teams to compete in English speaking games and activities held in every classroom. Everyone had a ball! To cap the evening off, a gigantic birthday cake was brought for me, along with flowers and gifts. I certainly had a great time! Now I can start planning my big trip for the big 50 !!!
