West Coast Tassie

Hi! sorry for not writing earlier. Finding that internet and mobile phone coverage not so good here in Tassie.

Spent the last 3 days travelling the west coast by rented car. Eveline and I picked up a couple of Germans for the ride as well. Pics to come later…

Day 1- Drove from Launceston to Stanley. Although we had big plans to stop in 4 places, we didn’t get moving until after the Festivale started and we walked around for a bit (where I didn’t manage to meet up with Gina but we will meet again on Friday). We dropped the fruit picking farm and cheese factory and did just the chocolate factory and Paper mill.

Day 2- Climbed the Nut at Stanley before driving to Cradle Mountain for a hike. Raining there so we only did a 2 hour easy trek around Dove Lake. Drove on to Strahan.

Day 3- Strahan to Hobart. Through 3 diff nat’l parks. Did about 3 short hikes. One to Donagheys Hill lookout, One in the temperate rainforest (Russell Falls and Horseshoe Falls), one to the beginning of the Franklin river

btw, our rental car is so tiny and crappy. the thing can’t climb hills without being downshifted in gears to 3 or even 2…. But Joey is a really cute car and always the smallest in every parking lot!
