darned computer at interet cafe won’t let me resize my pics to upload them onto the blog. Will have to do that from Eddie’s house.
Day 4 – Headed down to Port Arthur which was once a prison. Slept in the best hostel in Tassie called the Udda Backpackers in Triabunna
Day 5- Went to Kate’s berry farm near Swansea, Spiky bridge, then some cool looking suspension bridge above a river at the beginnign of a 5 day walking trail. Spent the night in the Freycinet nat’l park. This YHA Hut was literally a hut. Outhouse only, no showers, no power except for the one light in the bedroom. Before going to bed we had a campfire and tried to made some smores. Then as we were preparing for bed, the largest spider i’ve ever seen was crawling on the wall above eveline’s bed. This spider is larger than my handspan!!! looked tarancula-ish. EW!!! oh ya, did the Wineglass bay lookout walk too.
Day 6- stayed in St. Helen’s in a great YHA hostel. had a hilarious time trying to book my next hostel in JUST my towel and a tanktop… (was almost in the shower when reception got through)
Day 7- Cheese factory! except the bad thing was this one only did cheddar’s and tasty… wah! we bought some old cheese (not old really) of 12 months. Picked more blackberry’s on the side of the road (they are everywhere in abundance on the west coast; I think people use them along their fencing), went to a lavender farm. Did I mention we went to a pub in the middle of a paddock? They have a pig that drinks beer.
Managed to meet up with the Cubitt’s in Launceston too! it was great to catch up with them and have dinner. I hope they come to visit me in Canada!
