Hey Vicki and everybody else not in Edmonton; This past week has been hot! it’s like a heat wave. Hot and dry, hitting around 29C every day for the past 5 days.I’ve been hearing a lot of complaints, but all I can say is, you don’t know hot until you’ve been wandering the outback on a hike in 37C-42C!

It’s suddenly changed weather here and now it’s dark and stormy. A tornado has touched down near Stony Plain (about an hour west of Edmonton). My co-worker, from BC, is excited and is looking forward to experiencing her first tornado-y weather tonight. (She was just as excited when she experienced her first snowstormy blizzard but she chose to take a cab home today.)

Parkland county near Stony Plain and Spruce Grove issued
Thunderstorms near Stony Plain have exhibited rotation on radar and from the ground. A tornado was reported south of Stony Plain. Thunderstorms are moving westsouthwestward at 40km/hour.
Thunderstorms west of Edmonton near Stony Plain have exhibited rotation in the cloud. These storms are expected to continue move west southwestwards. Winds of 50 km/hour and locally heavy downpours have been associated with this thunderstorm.
