Ballina, Australia: Finally on Terra Firma

We’re finally in Ballina, our final flight destination for this leg of the trip. We’re in Ballina, my clothes are over the Pacific and Elizabeth’s stuff is still in Sydney. Unlike my gear, her’s made the trans-pacific flight okay. But when we boarded our SECOND flight to Ballina (the first plane having broke down while we were on the tarmac) our flight was overweight. Probably my fault carrying all the extra kilograms of Christmas cookies in my belly. So her bag was left behind to be delivered on a later flight.
We then missed the infrequent shuttle to Byron Bay and had to wait an hour for the next one. But FINALLY we have arrived. You have to love the “Always There for You” slogan the shuttle company uses. Especially when noone was even at the counter.
Highlight of the day: When the pilot left the cabin to use the john. You should have seen the look on our faces.
