my god, I am so confused …
The simplest tasks are frustrating and take forever to accomplish. For example, Little Miss So Full of Herself decided to do some laundry last night ~ I sat on the floor for about an hour, with a beer in one hand and the freakin’ Korean user manual in the other, watching my dirty, dry laundry tumble around in the washing machine ~ no water, no washing going on, just tumbling. I guess I will have to take a picture of the control panel and ask my co-teacher to explain it to me. Maybe she can show me how to use my stupid Korean cell phone too.
Since I couldn’t do laundry, I decided to tackle the reorganization of my spacious apartment. Just for shits and giggles, imagine a 12×12 room. Contained in that space is a double bed, a full-size futon sofa, a dresser, a bookcase, an armoire, a dining room table and 4 chairs, a compact refrigerator, a 3×6 kitchenette, a bakers rack, a coat rack, and another storage cupboard. Plus 2 large suitcases. Oh, and an enormous drying rack, 3 lamps, and an ironing board. After a few hours, I have managed to clear a few square feet of living space and I feel much less cramped. It could be worse ~ Tim’s apartment is larger, empty except for a double bed, 2 full-size refrigerators, and a vacuum cleaner (the floors are linoleum). I guess it made sense to somebody …
And another thing ~ something smells like poop. Seriously, something in or near my balcony space is producing a truly unpleasant odor. Tim had suggested that someone in the neighborhood is spreading animal fertilizer on their cabbage garden in preparation for spring planting; however, I think he is just making that up so I will quit talking about it.

Funny. But I wonder, why of all people did they give you the ironing board?

One more thing. What kind of beer?

You grew up on a farm. We spread cow manure on the fields there. Was this smell familiar or was there a true sewer smell, rather than a manure smell? Might be important.
Sounds like you have a ton of stuff you could loan to Tim. No point in walking around it for the next year while he has nothing.
Looking forward to your posts!
Love,
Barb

Watching the laundry tumble with a beer is probably more fun than watching Korean TV, I imagine.

OK. I’m here in the compuer room that’s probably about 12 x 12, and I’m thinking that unless your furniture is piled on top of each other, I can’t imagine how it’s all in that one room?
I saved your original blog as a favorite, and every day I clicked on it and nothing but the same first blog came up. I wondered that either the computer didn’t work or you were SO busy (or threw yourself in front of a bus) and that’s why there were no posts since that first one.
So — It’s offical; I’m stupid. Totally by accident I clicked on something else and “found” all your posts. I feel like a bad friend! Seriously, I kept wondering why you weren’t writing?? DUH.
Well, I’m glad you’re in your tiny apt with lots of furniture. Can I send you some room freshner??
Good luck with the boys.
Miss you.
Claire xo
PS: Please send or post your address.

Is there a cat in the neighborhood? Maybe it’s using your balcony for a litter box.
It sounds like you have more furniture in your one room than we have in our whole house. And how did Tim end up with 2 refrigerators?
I can just picture you sitting on the floor watching your laundry go round and round, wondering what the heck button to push to make the water come on. I hope you get it figured out before you totally run out of clothes!
Claire – don’t feel bad, I think I did the same thing, but I’m on board now.
I think it’s interesting that it says the last comment was submitted at 9:01 a.m. on March 3rd, but it’s only 10:30 p.m. on March 2nd here. I only noticed, really, because tomorrow is my birthday and I was afraid I’d missed it!
Can’t wait to hear how things go at the school with a classroom full of boys – better rest up so you have lots of energy for fun and games. I’m sure they’ll LOVE you!
