Arrival in Laos
Today marks the third country for me to be traveling in. I arrived in Vientienne Laos yesterday after a two day journey by motorcycle, bus, and finally train to get here from the western part of Thailand. I’m feeling a bit sick, I think I have some sort of cold and I’ve been running myself ragged the past few weeks with travel, sightseeing, and a little partying.
It’s been a few months since I’ve updated my blog, I guess I’ve just been lazy. I’ve been traveling this time around for about 4 1/2 months. I arrived back in Bangkok on July 20 to meet up with Uwe. After that we toured around and hit up the hot spots of the south. Places like Phuket, Krabi, Hat Railey, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Chang, and finally ending up in Koh Tao where Uwe is building a house as of the time I’m writing this. We had a good journey together. We each purchased Thai made motorbikes in Ranong, Thailand. They are Tiger 125cc four stroke motorbikes. Similar to a scooter back home but a little bigger and they have a four speed manual transmission. All and all a good bike, but not the most comfortable to travel distance on. I have about 6,000 kilometers on mine now.
I’ve met alot of interesting people along the way and have been in some places that before I’ve only dreamt about. My plan now is to travel through Laos then on into Vietnam and lastly Cambodia. We’ll see how it goes, one thing I’ve learned about travel is that things rarely go as planned.
Well, thats it for now. I’ll do better at keeping this updated for those of you who are interested. Tonight I’m off to go check out a Laos discoteque with some Swedish friends I met last night. 🙂 Should be a blast!!

teal, we miss you sooo much, it sounds like your having an awesome time. we have questions for you, depending how long your staying we have decided to visit you. but i will not get vacation untill april. if your still there we are comming. i will be quitting my job about that time and so will chuck, so we will have some time. we are going to move home after we sell the condo. we have to wait to sell till may in order to avoid capitol gains taxes. so that is why we are stuck till then and I dont want to quit work untill i get my 2 wks vacation. anyway get in touch asap we have the$$$$ now so i really hope your up for it.. we love and miss you e-mail us

Michael,Thanks for your comments. We have used a memory foam mattress toppers before as well. They are a great addition to an inflatable bed. Our guests prefer it to sleeping on a ‘raft’ so to speak. It is good to know there are companies out there that cater to people with chemical sensitivities like Natural Form and Foam Order. We still do love our wool topped self-adjusting air mattress. If you can afford it, this sleep system is fantastic.

I myself just baught a super pershing. Its as slow as a heavy but shots kept bouncing off of me. Turns well. Though it lacks on the battlefield it is a good sniping tank when you angle the armour. Nothing special about it. Compared to the pershing the superpershing has more shells boune or absorb hits than the pershing. All and all its okay. I give it a 4/5 as well. -e567

There is a simulator for the iCub (two in fact). If you grab the iCub source code, there’s an ODE based simulator in , and a webots simulator in . I work with the ODE one and it is coming along nicely. You can control either of the simulators (or the actual robot) using or just a plain-text socket protocol.The ODE simulator is easy to compile on Linux. On windows it is a bit awkward, but we release a compiled version of it (see the windows binaries link on the YARP home page).There’s a call out for people who want to come work on the actual robot in July 🙂
