home for a rest?

In our first week back home we made a quick day trip into Halifax to see Andre’s brother Marcel at his birthday party – equipped with a live band, steaks BBQing, a huge pot o’chilli,a keg of beer and a ton of people, I found myself wishing that we had decided to spend the night at his brother’s place – especially as I was the sober driver! AND we found out that there was a free cab service provided back into the city WHENEVER you wanted!!! AHHHHHHhhh!

The next week we made another trip back into Halifax for a longer visit with Marcel and take a last stop at MEC for those purchases of opportunity!!!

The timing is all based on when my dad’s boat is scheduled to go out – if he’s here, I’m here….no questions! I had about 5 days with him before he left again…….we had a good time working around the house and checking on the tree stand, going to BINGO and just hanging out and havin’some beers!

When we went to the first bar in Halifax, I realized that the froo-froo mentality I had first hated about Vancouver 8 years ago when I was fresh from Scotia, was something I missed now that I was in downtown Halifax and couldn’t get a lime with my CC&G nor a sugar rim on a lemon drop shooter – and it was warm…..yucky. This was a small difference, I know, but I still noticed that I had just slighter higher expectations – and I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

In the end we had a great time, a big donair and a hangover that lasted the enitre hour drive home!

The following weekend Andre and I visited with some of my friends from high school. We went out for dinner and drinks and had a blast with some of the funniest people! I don’t think any of us were ever so witty! I laughed my ass off! Some of us decided to go dancing in the “big town of Bridgewater!”. First the Lounge, where it seemed that everyone there had just turned 19, so we quickly moved onto the only other bar that had any chance of being non-country……but no, there was karaokee instead – and it was country! There were a few good songs to dance to that weren’t country and besides that, we’re a walking party wherever we go – we always have a good time.

When the evening was over, Andre and I cam home to a huge mug-up of scallops-in-bacon! Thanks mom! You’re awesome!
