The ghost tour: really fun. It was in abus all decked out in red lights and red velvet seats, but for the most part it was an actor telling ghost stories. And on an overcast and cold night, what better way to spend an evening? We saw Bram stoker’s apartment (he went to trinity), heard a ghost story that Mrs. Stoker might have told Bram, the shelbourne hotel (suppossedly haunted on the 5th floor and visited by Sibyll Leed (?), some famous American psychic, a church/cemetery that had been converted into a park (all the tombstones were pushed up against the wall and the church from 12shmushmu (to quote Eddie Izzard) was in ruins. There was an unfinished tombstone in one corner, that may or may not have been placed there by the tour, but it made for a good story about the stone cutter. I got to be the volunteer for the grave snatching demonstration. Then we went to the cememtary outside St. Patrick’s to hear the story of the woman in white and talk about people being buried alive. Finally we went to St. Auoden’s steps, which is part of the old walls fromt he viking city, where we heard a story about the sandyman and the leper colony outside the walls. It was a lot of fun.
Ran lots of errands yesterday, and still have a few to do tomorrow, so I don’t think I’ll go sightseeing till Sunday. Saw Liza with a Z (oh my god Fosse is amazing) and the Maltese Falcon (SF!). Read endless lives by Neil Gaiman (I think its the best artwork of the series). Got some books out of the library, but I still can’t find Owls do cry by janet frame.
They had to catch Gavin cheating customers 3 times before they finally kicked him out. Sheesh.
Lena has taken to leaving nasty little notes around the house whenever anyone does something she doesn’t like (although does she close the windows when I ask?). Anyways, Leane and I saw each other yesterday and found out that she had flipped out to both of us about using electricity, which – get this – we don’t pay!! We don’t pay utilities! So yes, I don’t want to leave the hot water on, because it is bad for the environment, but I’m not costing her anything when I forget. She has never lived with other people before.
Monday was so slow, all our customers left by 10:45. I was out of there super early. Makes up for the rugby match days. I’ll post more tomorrow – I’ve got to run to work.
