I’m Megamerican.
I’m reading the Act of Roger Murgatroyd by Gilbert Adair and it’s wonderful so far. There are tons of allusions to all the Agatha locked-room-Christmas-manor-type stories. I recommend it if you’re into murder mysteries – its very cute.
Even Stephvens Ooh – I love this one “I’m a correspondent”
Jon and Stephen are brilliant. (I need to go find that interview with Jon Stewart)
Oh man – I had totally forgotten this one. Stephen on Tough Crowd.
(Speaking of Colbert; WANT!)
Hey! They’ve got friends bloopers too. 🙂
Other fun stuff: http://xkcd.com/68/ Fucking cosine. http://xkcd.com/59/, http://xkcd.com/56/, and in honor of the Rugby World cup: http://xkcd.com/115/
On my continuing day of productivity: I found the banana!
Bizarrely fascinating: the 50 worst films of 2006.
Fun stuff from Cleolinda: Not to be? Group revisits Shakespeare authorship debate. Wow – Derek Jacobi included. I had a high school teacher that would get seriously pissed off if you voiced this opinion. He thought it was an elitist theory propagated by the aristocracy.
Parents Today: Wesleyan Dad Can’t Believe His Child Is Merely Average. Somehow, this is not an article from The Onion. [Ed: I always felt really sorry for average children of professors. They never get a break.](Actual articles from The Onion: Kitten Thinks of Nothing But Murder All Day; War on String May Be Unwinnable, says Cat General.
Noir cat doesn’t mind a reasonable amount of trouble.
Cate Blanchett wins Best Actress in Venice for playing Bob Dylan. Other winners: Lust, Caution for best film; Brad Pitt for best actor (somewhat surprising, as apparently Casey Affleck–from the same movie–was tipped to get it instead).
Pretty, pretty people: Orlando Bloom — GQ’s Man of the Year; [Also, Kaiser Chiefs and James MacAvoy] Christian Bale photo session for USA Today; Keira Knightley does British ‘Vogue.’Zahara Jolie-Pitt’s first handbag.
Now that I’ve settled down for the moment, I’m trying to get back into some of my political readings. Because when I only have an hour at an internet café in Edinburgh, I’m gonna read about the development deals for Wolverine (going ahead in Nov., btw) rather than what’s new in the environmental field. I am a bad person.
(I’m being too hard on myself; I always find time for Jon Stewart and Colbert… and I do keep reading the BBC and NYTimes… But I only ever really look for environmental stuff when I’ve got my laptop around).

It’s so lovely and modest of you not to mention that you sing on that three-Grammy award-winning CD. But I’m quite proud….
Yes, I am so modest. I merely bolded it.
