I’m Megamerican.

I’m reading the Act of Roger Murgatroyd by Gilbert Adair and it’s wonderful so far. There are tons of allusions to all the Agatha locked-room-Christmas-manor-type stories. I recommend it if you’re into murder mysteries – its very cute.

Check out the video. I love watching the girls go from level 1 (where they can be a tad shreaky) to level 4 (with Beth and Susan!) where they sound absolutely gorgeous. Oh! And Barrie’s little sister is in the video. It makes me feel really old to know that most of the younger siblings have finished Chorissima by this point. (Oh – and I’m not a huge fan of the choreography at the Kyoto conference – that doesn’t really look up to the old standards, imho. Nice outfits, though). Ack – I have to get the new CD… It’s called Voices of Hope and Peace. Here’s the description; “Chorissima’s sixth solo CD, centers around a theme of longing for hope and peace in our world. The CD, recorded at Skywalker Sound Studios, is comprised entirely of texts by women and includes five pieces commissioned by SFGC. The centerpiece is a 25 minute work, Anne Frank: A Living Voice, written by composer Linda Tutus Haugen. The young women featured in this recording are approximately the same age as Anne Frank was when she wrote her diary. To brag for just a moment; The ensemble can also be heard on several recordings with the San Francisco Symphony, including the GRAMMY® award-winning CDs Orff: Carmina Burana (1992); Stravinsky: The Firebird, The Rite of Spring, Persephone (1999); and Mahler: Symphony No. 3 and Kindertotenlieder (2004). Chorissima has appeared in two feature films, The Talented Mr. Ripley (2000) and What Dreams May Come (1998).   Hee.
Oh my god, I love this website I found. I’m supposed to be doing work, yet instead I’m finding all my favorite videos that Viacom took away. It’s a good way to spend a Sunday.

Now that I’ve settled down for the moment, I’m trying to get back into some of my political readings. Because when I only have an hour at an internet café in Edinburgh, I’m gonna read about the development deals for Wolverine (going ahead in Nov., btw) rather than what’s new in the environmental field. I am a bad person.

(I’m being too hard on myself; I always find time for Jon Stewart and Colbert… and I do keep reading the BBC and NYTimes… But I only ever really look for environmental stuff when I’ve got my laptop around).
