A few Turkey photos (Post #47)

This is Michele and today is Saturday, September 10th at about 8:00pm. We are now in Cappadocia, which is in central Turkey in a small town called Goreme. We took an overnight bus last night from Olympos and the ride was not very restful as you can imagine. When we got here we found a cave pension. So yes, we are in fact staying in a cave right now. I found a good place to upload photos so I’ll explain the photos below and write more of a blog later. (I apologize to those with a slow connection.) Each photo has a caption above it.

Ephesus – we saw this ancient city when we were staying in Selcuk (Sept. 1-3)

Mike in Selcuk with a little begger kitty. (There are a lot of begging cats, dogs, and chickens in Turkey!)

Picture of the calcium ridges at sunrise in Pamukkale (Sept.4)

Hieropolis ruins in the hillls above the calcium ridges in Pamukkale

View from our pension room in Fethiye, along the Meditterranean Sea (Sept 6)

Kaputas beach near Kas, Turkey. We swam here one afternoon. (Sept 7)

Sarcophagi (tomb) along a street in Kas.

Street in Kas. (Sept 8th)

Treehouses in Olympos, an interesting community where we went to the beach, walked through ruins, and ate dinner (Sept 9)

Where we are today (Sept 10). This picture shows rock formations that early Christians made into homes and churches.

Hope you enjoyed these photos…bye!

Hey Michele and Mike, This is my first time visiting your blog and I am very impressed at your diligent diary entries! These pictures are amazing….I always thought of Turkey as a big desert but can see there are beautiful beaches! The stadium is amazing. Mike, glad to hear your health is better. Do make sure you all rest and take vitamins to keep yourselves healthy! Bests, Joann
