Beijing life, pic update Nov 6th

29/10/05……

Today I went for my first run in ages around a park near to were im living, 6 laps of the park in an hour and I was ready to die….. but it was worth it for the views.
Not many tourists in the part of Beijing were im staying so got quite alot of strange looks from people as big white guy was running around the park, even to the point of scaring one young lad who saw me coming, grabed his scooter and ran back to and grabbed his mom.

In the afternoon Patrick, Paloma, Cathy and myself headed to the main shopping area of Beijing as the guys needed to stock up winter clothes, I had to resist buying clothes as will be sunning myself again on little paradise islands within 10 days or so, cant forget to get back to Ko Phangnan for the November full moon party.

As I have not purchased China/Beijing Guide book Im a little lost when it comes to the names of districs and places Ive visited so will update this as and when I have the information to hand. Also as mentioned with the trouble Im having getting pics on here Im going to give up until I get back to Bangkok.

Beijing is one big city though and is spread out far and wide so its not that easy to walk around and just take in all the sites, so its the metro or taxi’s.

That evening then turned into one of the strangest saturday nights ever for me. It started off meeting up with some of Palomas friends who in turn brought some of their friends at a 100 lane bowling alley, there was around 14 of us and had two lanes, one lane Vs the other. We started at 10.30pm and played until around 12.30am then decided to head of to this place called Party World, which is a huge hotel looking place, with hundreds of private karaoke rooms. Not normally my thing but when your out with chinese, korean, vitanamese, panamanian i.e Asian people it seems to be the done thing. The one large bonus was the free huge buffet and drinks room!!! so I spent my first hour there!!! It was a fun night and got into the swing of things by the end, we finished at 3am and jumped into a taxi home.

30/10/05……

Today was a lazy day, Paloma, Cathy and myself just lounged around the apartment until 3pm watching DVD’s before heading out. Im now sitting in a Unerversity for polotics and law in Beijing on a sunday afternoon, Paloma is here to mark some papers then we are all heading off to the park to fly the huge kite I bought, fingers crossed we can even get the thing off the floor ( Pic to follow ).

Tonight we are thinking of bowling again but just the 4 of us and having a nice chinese meal, good way of keeping of the beer.

Also just noticed there is a Statistics counter on this site which is interesting, apparantly nearly 700 people have looked at this blog!!! I have been in it today for the first time and have made it available to the public ( you guys ) so its near the bottom right of the main page and click on the MORE link and it takes you in.
