Erin writing – Today we went to Devonport. It is a quaint town that is located on a peninsula. It takes about 12 minutes to get there, of course, by ferry. We bought a tour of the peninsula which was very nice because our guide told us all about the history of the town. They have two inactive volcanoes that we climbed up and took pictures as well as additional guns to protect themselves. We had lunch at Manuka – an awesome restaurant with great pizza and huge green lipped mussels. Windows were open on all sides, allowing us to enjoy the breeze. We got some chocolate from a local store and went to a vegetable and fruit market. Thus far, my favorite drink is an all natural ALOE drink. This sounds very strange but it is sweet and tasty! We went back on the ferry and went to the viaduct and had dinner at a place called degree. Abe and I had mussels again and also ordered lamb kabobs! They were great, the company was great, and the views of the harbor were fantastic!

Sounds fantastic!
Things are okay here … at least for Brenda and me. Sherlock has had a little complication with his newly docked tail … very uncomfortable apparently.
Keep having fun and post / send pix when you can. Love, Dad

Everyone on this end is loving this website and your info – great stuff. Interesting that running isn’t particularly easier. Do they recycle/conserve in other different ways? (Great photo of toilet controls – knew what that was the moment I laid eyes on it.) OK – Mom questions – is the weather cool and rainy? Did you take the right clothes? I can tell the food is good – how are your beds and are you able to sleep OK? How are the Kiwis reacting to you? Can you believe you’re there? The Prius misses you – it hasn’t moved since I parked it. ILYTP

Hi! boy it really sounds so wonderful and relaxing. What an adventure! Will we be able to get photos when you return, although it is nice to see these, your dad is having some trouble seeing them. Jones and Bailey are playing and Bailey is consistently coming upstairs to socialize. So all is well. Love, Mom/Momma Pat

Our students here at the dental college are so envious — they were sent to Switzerland but said they would trade for New Zealand in a heartbeat! Your comments about the toilet brought back memories of my first visit to the “dunny” in Alice Springs, Australia! Erin, if convenient, could you bring back a few coins (5, 50, 20, 10, $1, $2) so I can add to my collection? BTW, New Zealand is scheduled to release new coins the end of July and they are discontinuing the 5 cent coin altogether. Keep the entries coming; makes me feel as if I am traveling!
