May 25, 2005Ready to Go
Ce va? I'm all packed and ready to head east through the mountains and to the Sahara. Going to see a lot in the next 3 days and will have my camera ready. I am already at about 250 pictures. (click on the link below there is more) Liz won't be coming with me but I think she is ready to get out of Marrakesh as well. I am looking forward to spending time in smaller villages with nomads and camels. I have had fun in Marrakesh but if were on a round-the-world trip right now I would probably head off to a different destination. Unfortunately i'm tied down by time and having to catch a flight to Madrid next Wednesday. Liz says she is going to go to Fez next which is a city further north. It was a toss up between Marrakesh and Fez for me. They are the 2 more cultural cities in Morocco and Fez offers a lot. Unfortunately I really only had time for one. If I ever return to Morroco (and I plan on it) I will see the north and atlantic coast. I am also ready to get away from our Morrocan friends. Each day that goes by I get more and more suspicoius and nervous. They are very persistant and although they haven't asked for money for showing us around and taking us to different places to eat, I still feel like there could be alternative motives. Liz is on the same page I think so I am pretty sure she will either leave tomorrow or the following day. We talked about meeting up when I get back to go to Cascades Ouzoud (olive waterfalls) together. I really want to see them but it is up in the air. The other option is to head to Essouira for a day which is about an hour drive to the west on the Atlantic Coast. I really want to see a sunset over the Atlantic which is something that is, well, impossible from home. This town is supposed to be very pleasant with nice beaches and a good reggae scene. Well, this is it. I'm gone for a few days and will update when I return. I will do the same I did at the beginning and just write in my journal and transfer it on to this blog when I return. Untill then, auvoir! Comments
