July 13, 2005Peru, Peru......
Peru is a huge country and deserves a long stay....5 weeks for us which makes it almost the longest stay in a single country on our whole trip....there is so much to see and so much variety which also makes it one of the most popular with tourists places we have been to aswell....which means more expense than usual, more resteraunts, more internet cafes, more tour agencies, more people after your trade and consequently we found ourselves hounded to take trips to this inca site and that view and this resteraunt and that hotel and this taxi and that ad infinitum....its hard to avoid so we have at times taken the bait and paid our fee and done the trip.....the Nazca lines is a good example....Nazca itself is built on tourism that the lines bring, a million tour agencies, postcard sellers and an airport especially for trips in small planes to look down on the lines in the desert......we did it and it was amazing but too many more places like this and our trip would be a lot shorter.....that was four weeks ago and we have kept it a bit tighter, exploring at our own pace....some things can only be seen on tours though and the Nazca lines trip was one them.....worth the overspend too......especially for flying around in a small plane with a pilot who it seemed was trying to make everyone ill, tight turns left and right for 30 minutes does shake your insides but we managed to keep it down unlike some people we saw getting out after their flights.......a bit of an assembly line of tourists getting their $30 worth but what else would you do in Nazca....no rain for the last 5 years or so....barren desert for miles around............ intrigued about these lines guys..u got any pics from the plane? Howdy Kids, your cake looks wicked! Me and the boy blakers will raise a glass for you both tonight. Congratulations and have a fab time. Looking forward to the photos. We were talking about your party in december last night and Thee Cruellas have reluctantly agreed to replace The Bogmen and play for a substantial fee! (the drummer gets the larger share of the money due to musical direction) Take it easy, have a fab wedding Post a comment
