March 30, 2005Downhill trudge...
We stopped at a roadside stall to buy some pineapple and Nam, my motorbike driver asked some kids to show me their farm. It turned into a real expedition as the farm was built on the side of a steep mountain! They brought me all the way up to the top of the mountain and stopped to visit all their neighbors and relatives who were resting in their houses or working in the fields on the way up. Although we couldn't communicate verbally, they were very kind to me. At each house I was offered tea and pineapple until my belly was bursting. They also treated me to a giant stalk of fresh sugarcane to chew on. It was delicious! They also treated me to some green berries which were dipped in chili salt. They devoured them eagerly but they tasted very bitter to me. I ate them anyway! This boy is taking the pineapple down the hill. Comments
I hope you are sending these photos to National Geographic. Great shot of the beast of burden. Posted by: Suzen on April 2, 2005 01:21 PM |
