The babies around here don't usually wear diapers. I suppose it's better for their skin - no diaper rash - but it does seem kind of like a loaded gun! When they go to the bathroom their mother just sets them in an appropriate place, like outside, or over a trashcan or drain of some kind. If there is a mess they just clean it up! When it's chilly outside they wear pants with the crotch section cut out.
