From Laos to Bangkok...starting culture shock in 3..2...1...now
We finished up the end of our brief visit to Laos and made a beeline for Bangkok via an overnight bus. Leaving quiet Vientiene and waking up on Khao San Road is much like opening the door to your black and white farmhouse and finding Technicolor munchkins running around outside.Read this update

Welcome to Laos...where are all the Lao people?
Arriving in Laos after several weeks in China is an altogether different sort of shock. Compared to where we were in China, their are hordes and hordes of Western travelers here. So far we've been to Luang Prabang and are now in Vang Vieng, two of the most popular backpacker destinations in Laos, and we seriously seen more white people walking the streets than Laos.Read this update

Are We There Yet?; and China redeems itself
After three rather grueling days of travel, Jennifer and I have escaped the grasp of communist China and are not firmly within the clutches of communist Laos. It was an exhausting ordeal in getting here, but hopefully we can rest and recuperate for a bit. It seems to be what Laos is known for.Read this update
