In an effort to shake things up a little bit we decided to scrap what we had planned to do for the rest of our time in Thailand and head on over to Myanmar...Read this update July 15, 2004Disaster Averted and Paradise FoundWe were probably due for something bad to happen to us. What better place then when we finally arrive at Thailand's famous beautiful beaches. After a five hour bus ride and 45 minute boat ride, we arrived at Ko Chang, Thailand's second largest island, but only lightly developed compared to the more southern beaches.Read this update July 11, 2004Culture shock continued...We're only doing a brief visit in Bangkok. We have some more shopping to do and we're going to try and find our way to a movie theater to see a film or two...something we miss. Apart from that it is simply a day or two to recuperate and then on to the islands of southeast Thailand. Compared to where we were in China, their are hordes and hordes of Western travelers here. So far we've been to Luang Prabang and are now in Vang Vieng, two of the most popular backpacker destinations in Laos, and we seriously seen more white people walking the streets than Laos.Read this update July 01, 2004Are We There Yet?; and China redeems itselfAfter three rather grueling days of travel, Jennifer and I have escaped the grasp of communist China and are not firmly within the clutches of communist Laos.
