Days 395-413: Red Sea and Luxor

How long have we dreamt of visiting Egypt? Probably most of our lives. The place doesn’t disappoint. We spent a couple weeks lounging around the Red Sea to sample some of it’s world-class underwater delights before heading to Luxor for our first taste of ancient Egypt.

Days 380-382: Jerusalem

We weren’t planning on visiting Jerusalem on this trip. But we saw how close it was to Amman, then Marcus saw a picture of the Dome of the Rock, and Kelly really wanted a bagel, so we went.

Sure, the government travel warnings actually had us a tad worried for the first time on the trip. So we made it a quick trip in-and-out (3 nights). Just enough to see some of the holiest sites of the three largest monothesistic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam).

Day 394: We’ve Got a Nephew!

We’ve joined the aunt and uncle club with the arrival of Jack Thomas. Marcus’ brother Jon and sister-in-law Kim (who did the real work) gave birth to a strapping young 8 pound, 2 ounce Jack on May 6th.

Days 368-378: Syria

Despite its runner-up status in the administration’s “Axis of Evil”, we decided to visit Syria. Every traveller who’s been to the place has had nothing but good things to say about the Syrians. So with that and Marcus’ “good luck” string from a Buddhist monk nine months ago still attached, we figured we had nothing to worry about.
