Days 17-19: Supertramp, part 1

We spent three days hiking the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Tasman was a Dutch explorer who happened upon New Zealand in the early 1600s. But his party was attacked by the locals, so he said “to heck with it” and left it for the British.

The trek winds through forest, bays, and beaches, with some tidal crossings mixed in to keep you honest. Low tide was about 5:30AM which made for some early monrings with nice sunrises.

Nice view of a bay along the track.

It was remarkable to have entire bays to ourselves on what is considered the busiest track in NZ.

BronzeFest 2005 has officially started!
