Chetumal, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Chichen Itza, Merida, Palenque, Ocosingo, San Cristobal de las Casas, Tutla Guitierrez, Oaxaca, Mexico City, Tijuana

It was pleasant to find Mexico so clean and modern when coming from Central America. Loads of ancient sites and beautiful beaches. The people of Mexico were particularly friendly and honest. What a great country to finish the trip.

Trip Map

May 22nd, 2007

Here’s a world map showing where our travels took us for the past 25 months. Countries we visited on this trip (all 39 of them) are in blue and we filled in previously visited places in green. You can click on the image to get a much larger version of the picture. Somehow, we thought we were going to spend a lot less time in the air before we set out on this trip (did we mention that Marc hates to fly?). We promise to get a Mexico blog up soon.

Days 694-719: Guatemala and Belize

April 15th, 2007

Guatemala: Antigua, Panajachel, Chichicastenango, Flores, Tikal
Belize: San Ignacio, Xunantunich, Caye Caulker, Orange Walk, Lamanai

Colorful festivities, serious shopping, awesome coffee, huge temples, warty birds, and a whole lot of relaxing. All that and we discovered why people say, “Sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite.”

Really cool temples at Tikal.

Honduras: Tegucigalpa, Los Naranjos (Lago de Yojoa), Tela, La Ceiba, Roatan, Copan Ruinas

How is it that Marc carries the camera but pertty much every picture in this entry has him in it? At least there are pictures of a few other things too, including a really weird hotel towel.

Days 618-625, 636-653: Ecuador & Panama

February 16th, 2007

Ecuador: Loja, Cuenca, Guayquil, Baños, Quito
Panama: Panamá City, David, Boquete, Bocas del Toro

The highlight of Ecuador was definitely the Galapgos. But we enjoyed the short time we spent on the mainland before we caught a flight to Panama. Panama is a pretty small country, so we breezed through it. But those of you who enjoy the bug photos will like this entry.

Days 626-635: Galapagos Islands

January 23rd, 2007

Islas Baltra, Plaza Sur, Santa Fe, Española, Floreana, Santa Cruz, Rabida, Santiago, Bartolome, Seymor Norte

The Galapagos Islands were simply incredible. Well, not the islands themselves so much, but their incredible critters. The coolest part is that they were fearless of humans. This blog isn’t big on text but has a whole lot of critter pics, so be patient while it loads.
