Croatian cuisine is heavily influenced by the Italians due to their proximity and past occupations of the country. Typical breakfast is some sort of baked good. There are cafes and bakeries EVERYWHERE and the coffee and cappucinos are quite good and cheap. Lunch is generally a sandwich or pizza slice. We often would buy bread and cheese from the market if we wanted to pack our own lunch. Dinner is pizza or pasta and seafood on the coast. We ate a lot of grilled calamari which is excellent here if you like that sort of thing. You can expect to pay about $1.50 CAD for a piece of pizza, $1 for a loaf of Italian style bread, and $7 CAD for a nice calamari dinner or plate of pasta. Comments
