February 18, 2005Carnaval!
Carnaval is taking place this week in La Paz. The queen of the festival was crowned last night, I didn't witness it but I bet it was magical. There are a series of Parades happening this week, the first being today at 5 pm. Everyone is quite excited. My street has been blocked off as it happens to be that I live about 100 yards from the Malecon (where most of the events are taking place), and if I walk just down the street I can choose to either ride the bumper cars or eat a corn dog. At the very end of the street, next to the Jesus of the Shell statue, they have set up a band stand. It is so loud that I can literally hear everyword in my apartment and they rotate the bands in and out until early in the morning. I cannot wait until they observe Ash Wednesday in the Baja. Comments
