Hopping on the enormous flower pot,
rim of the bowl,
little chicken birds
brown with white stripes and black spots-
More on the floor,
standing on the mortar,
This one hopping too,
hops heap feet together over the cracks of the tiles.
Leaping far,
then dropping head to peck away at bits of dirt and twigs and infathomably small twigs.
No bugs.
The little bird didn't notice.

But, instead of noticing,
the birdie jumps,
sings a little bird verse,
twinkling to the birds above on the orange clay pot.
Another bird thumps its wings and floats away.
