December 01, 2004December is here, Christmas is Coming
The day after Thanksgiving (altho Thanksgiving is not celebrated in Mexico) marks the beginning of the Holiday season in La Paz, Mexico. Holiday music is blasted in the supermarkets, citizens drive in this desert climate of cactus with christmas pine trees fastened and tied to their car roofs, the palm trees on the Malecon are wrapped up with blinking lights, the Governor's Palace is adorned, the roofs on neighborhood homes have mechanized Santas and reindeer clumsily moving and blinking. The citizens of La Paz are awaiting the release of Billy Bob's hit holiday film "Bad Santa" coming to the Cinepolis soon (Here known as "Un Santo no tan Santo", which could mean literally "A Saint that's not so Saintly.") Myself no exception, I'm getting into the spirit as well - I've drunk more Eggnog in the last week than I have in my entire life in the United States. Felicidades Comments
