July 15, 2005Still in Hawaii
This has been one of the most grueling "deployments" I've ever been on. Actually, when you're in Hawaii, and you have to work, it does sort of stink. Fortunately, I've got a good boss who encouraged us to get out and do stuff if we didn't have any work. So, I've had a chance to see a few things. Went up Diamond Head, the picturesque volcano crater at the end of Waikiki Beach about a week ago, which was pretty cool. I walked up there with a buddy from the hotel, which was probably close to 5 miles. Combine that with the walk back, as well as the wandering around earlier in the day, and it was close to 12 miles or so. Needless to say I was a bit sore the next day. Two days ago, I spent the morning on a rainforest tour, and the afternoon touring around the southeastern part of Oahu. Both tours were good, but it was so windy that we didn't get to see many birds (which was my main interest that day). Still, it was a good opportunity to see some different areas, and a lot of fun. Will post some pictures soon. Internet access is spotty from the room. Comments
