More on Joshua

Okay – travel stuff first: I’ve uploaded photos from Mauritius (unfortunately all of my photos of the pink pigeon came out fuzzy – but c’est la vie. Some others came out well). They’re over on webshots. I’ll start on my Oz photos next, and then my madagascar videos if I get enough time here on the hostel computer.

And yes – I know I post too much about Joshua – but you should all be SUPER EXCITED for it and go support it lots when it comes out (July 6th in the US). And I haven’t had a Sam Rockwell premiere to get excited about in over 2 years. 2 YEARS, PEOPLE! It got fabulous reviews at sundance, and was picked up as part of the biggest buying deal this year. Last year that honor went to Little Miss Sunshine, and we all know how that did. So – Ain’t it Cool News posted a bit about the new poster for the movie, and linked to their own sundance review of it. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/32836) Some highlights I enjoyed:

“From there the film goes batshit insane, it’s a total horror film in the vein of The Omen, but without the supernatural elements, it’s all very realistic and plausible… This is the film to show your wife or girlfriend if you want to convince her to never have children. It’s frightening as all hell, but also a wonderful drama about a child feeling neglected and dealing with it in the most evil bizarre way…At a certain point of the film it just become a battle of wits with Joshua fighting his dad and at that point its riding the line between bizarre black comedy and great horror; I love love LOVED it.”

“Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. My biggest regret from Sundance 2007 was missing this film. From Sam Rockwell, Vera Farmiga and the director of HELL HOUSE comes one of Rav’s favorites from the fest… I just could not fit it into my schedule and I’m kicking myself now. Rav loved it (CLICK HERE TO READ HIS REVIEW!) and from the sounds of things, this flick would have been so up my alley. A quirky, OMEN-like flick… starring Sam Rockwell? Yep, my alley is definitely interested.”

Don’t you love that? My alley is definitely interested. Ha!
