Bon Voyage Party

Saturday, October 23rd. I was hoping for my paperwork to come through from the Chinese government and I would be on my way! The job was tentatively scheduled to start on November 1st.
My two sons, Kevin and Darren told me they wanted to take me out for dinner that night along with their wives, Renate and Saylor. I said that would be nice since I had hopes of leaving the next week.
Upon arriving at the restaurant I glanced around at people sitting in booths to see if there was anyone I knew. Since my arrival in Brantford at the end of August I had made a habit of looking for people I knew. I could never do that inWindsor as my circle of aquaintances there was very limited.
I looked across the room and saw my friend Deb from Windsor – I thought “She looks familiar, I know her.” I looked further and saw a whole room full of family and friends! They all yelled “surprise” and I nearly fell over! There were 16 all together! I did not have an inkling that anything of this sort was happening.
I have so many wonderful and close friends that I am truly grateful for. And many more that could not make it for various reasons. We ate, drank and gabbed for a few hours before the party broke up. I said my thank-yous and goodbyes and made promises to keep in touch. Well, here I am doing my blog and keeping in touch……………now I just have to print this out for a few people who do not have computers yet. (Yes, believe it or not there are still a few of those left on the planet!)
