The story begins.........

This story all began many moons ago. Even before I started kindergarten I wanted to be a teacher. I remember playing school with my sister, Rose when I was four or five years old. Of course being the older sister I was always the teacher! I don't know how I knew how to be a teacher having never been to school yet, but I remember setting up the desks and standing at the front of the "room". I guess it was pure instinct - hence my fascination with one-room schoolhouses and "Little House on the Prairie."

Skip ahead to 2004. After years of working in an office and suppressing my passion for teaching, the dream became a possibility. The company I was working for in Windsor for the past six years was slowly shutting down. I had already made up my mind that if and when that happened I would move back to Brantford, Ontario to be closer to my children and grand-children.

Now was the time to do some serious thinking about the future. I knew if got a job in Brantford and settled down there I would never leave to teach abroad. I had been seriously considering this for the past ten years. So, to make a long story short, the job came to an end and I took a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) course in August, packed up my belongings and put everything in storage in Brantford at the end of that month.

Upon receiving my TESOL certificate and license to teach in 85 countries, I began sending out my CV (Curriculum Vitae or resume). It was exciting and a little nerve racking at the same time. Where would I end up?

After a lot of research and turning down a contract in Thailand, I finally accepted an offer in China! Now the dream was becoming a reality...........
