No Going Back !

No going back ! The flights are now booked. We fly from Humberside , England to Guayaquil , Ecuador on 21 November.

My Spanish course in Cuenca is also booked. 4 weeks to learn Spanish to equip us for the next 12 months in South & Central America ( We will just have to struggle in Brazil ! )

How did this come about ? We spent 5 weeks in Ecuador in Feb/Mar this year. Just a very exciting long holiday like nothing we'd ever done before. We travelled by bus with our backpacks , stopped where we wanted , enjoyed the freedom , loved the country and the people we met , but struggled with the language.

We didn't want to come home. When we came home we didn't want to be back at work doing the same as we had been doing for the last 20 years. It had been good for 20 years but it was time for a change ! Plus our 4 children were independent enough , aged 20 to 27 , they could manage without us.

So we sold our business and we sold our garden (so someone can build a house on it )and we started planning.

10 days to go now. Loads more to do. I hope some of you might enjoy reading about our travels. I know my Mum will anyway !
