Cesky Krumlov

I just toured the castle grounds and gardens here in Cesky Krumlov. Again, absolutely magnificent and seemingly untouched for centuries. This small town is very enchanting. There is simply nothing that compares to this in the States.
I also toured the castle cellars, underneath. They were crumbling and dungeony and there was a very controversial Czech art exhibit appropriately displayed down there. It was called the Mezinarodni Galerie and displayed a series of oversized dental molds with a text conversation about the children going hungry. Words were written on the display case like, 'Frank, when are you going to feed the children?' and 'What do you mean she's not hungry?' Of course, the text turned into 'Do you think the children will ever be hungry enough to eat?' and the dental molds became more and more deteriorated. There was also another political activist exhibit that displayed a series of dead birds that had been electricuted by power lines. It was gross and it smelled, but it got the point across.

I found a new artist I like. His name is Alphonse Mucha and I assume he is from Czech Rep, but I don't really know. Anyway, his work is displayed everywhere (except the dungeon that had the dead birds) and it is quite nice. I am going to have to do some research on him.

I had a wonderful night's sleep last night. The hostel is quiet, and everyone else in my room goes to sleep early too. I am going to do a little shopping this afternoon, hopefully get my pictures burned to CD since my card is full, and book my train to Vienna tomorrow! Yea! Wish you were here!
