One Way Ticket to Trouble

My trip was almost over before it even began. As I approached the United Airline electronic ticket check-in booth in Denver to check in for my flight, I slid my credit card through the slot and followed all the instructions to check in, that is, until I got an unusual and almost hostile message on the screen. "The amount of time in destination country is not permitted. Please see United Airlines ticketing agent."
Weird.
So, it turns out Jolly Ole England will welcome you with jolly ole open arms but ONLY if they know you are going back to your own country at some point. My one way ticket to London was not permitted. Thankfully, I had a printed confirmation of my flight from Bristol England to Germany on the 7th. All was made jolly once again and I was allowed check in. Had I not had the confirmation to Germany. I might still be in Denver.

So it is now by way of DenverInternational, Chicago O'Hare, London Heathrow, and National Express Bus that I made it to Bath, England. After getting over an extreme dose of jet lag and the initial oddity of hostel life (like one big, weird, communal slumber party with strangers), I'm having a good time.
