Questions people might ask

In one of my TEFL teaching books (Inside Out Intermediate by Sue Kay and Vaughan Jones) are some questions students might ask each other about a 'dream weekend'. As there is no monopoly on such questions, I do not think I am infringing copyright if I quote them and answer them here.

Who would your ideal companion be?
my ideal companion would be my old girlfriend A., if we could ever forgive each other and get together again. She shared my love of travelling to places.
How would you get around?
We'd probably get a bus to the lakes quite near there, or take a boat on the lake itself, or I'd hire a vehicle and we'd zip round the peninsula.
What would you wear?
As the best time to go is probably late Spring, I'd wear a T-shirt and jeans during the day, and a light jumper for the evenings, when the temperature drops.
What would you buy?
I wouldn't buy any fur, as I don't really approve of it, but I would buy coffee table books of the Byzantine churches, frescoes and icons that are everywhere in the town, and of the 18th Century mansions with their unique architecture down by the lake.
What would you eat and drink?
I would eat fish from the lake or from Lake Megali Prespa, fried, with oregano and lemon juice squeezed on top, and a big salad, with peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and feta cheese and copious amounts of olive oil. I'd drink Retsina, or Tsantali wine, or Mythos beer.
What essential items would you take with you?
I'd take a camera because the place is so stunningly beautiful, and sunglasses, because even in the Spring the sun can get very bright.
Who would you like to meet there?
I'd like to meet a local historian who could tell me more about the place (and maybe even show us inside some of the Byzantine churches that most tourists don't go to). I'd love to discuss it all over a delicious lunch in the fish restaurant near Mavriotissa.
What sights would you want to see?
I'd want to see the Byzantine churches, the 18th century houses, the lake, and go up to Prespa, maybe on the Sunday, to have a look at the wildlife and gorgeous scenery up there.
Who would you send a postcard to?
I'd send a postcard to my family back home in England, but to show a picture of snowbound Kastoria in the winter! (I have to be different).
What would spoil your perfect weekend?
A. and I falling out again. Or, maybe, being interrupted by someone who doesn't like what I've written in the blog.
The thing is, I've already done all this (except re-united with A), and at much greater length than a weekend. It's a sign of my age that I want to experience these things again...
