July 12, 2005Local Accomidation in the Amazon
As part of our tour we visited a family that lived in this house out in a small village located 2 hours down river from where we were staying. No electricity and no running water. Everything comes to these people by river canoe. Most of these people dont have any money to speak of and mosty subsist on farming. However, the lady of this particular home made cool jewerly out of seeds and twine which come from the forest so I supported her cause and bought a necklace and bracelet. She also made us some bad ass manjucka pancakes that had 0 additives. Just manjuka and a hot clay surface was all she needed. Comments
