Sao Paolo – Alive and Well

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

Hola a todos!

After a nice jaunt via airplane from North to South America, here I sit in what is a trying-to-be-trendy-internet cafe within the downtown district of Sao Paolo–a veritable jungle of the urban variety.

Following a busride from the international airport into city´s center, my buddy Rory and I explored for a few hours, grabbed some Brazilian grub, and stumbled over oursleves in somewhat broken Portuguese. More of the same is on tap tomorrow, with my first day at the University slated for thursday. Vamos a ver.

Interestingly enough we might score invitations to the International Conference on Environmental Law, which is going to take place here in the city next monday, tues, wednesday. Nothing is certain at this point, but it would be quite nice to rub shoulders with the world´s eco-friendly big whigs.

More to come later …. ciao, for now.

Introduction; a brief synopsis …

Hello all:

Whether you’ve been directed to my humble and, what bodes-potentially-to be humorous, travel log via a personal email or your own ramblings; welcome.

The postings which follow will detail a two month excursion, as I’ll arrive in Sao Paolo on May 24, teach english at the landless worker movements’ national university outside of the city for a few weeks, then head to Rio for a few weeks, after which I’ll cut cross-continent to my old stomping ground; Quito, Ecuador-to chill with family, friends, and re-visit the land of massive mojitos. 🙂

That is all, for now … 🙂
