California and NYC — international travel
Last night I sat down and wrote lots of whitty comparisons why NYC and California feel like a different country, as well as detailed descriptions of my trip so far to visit relatives and look at graduate schools, but when I went to post it the internet connection went down. So now I’ll just vent slightly: I had a great day in the college town/beach resort that is UCSB but now I’m trying to research graduate fellowships and the damn frat next-door is blasting pulsating pop interspersed with the barks of their chained up pit bull. In this trip I’ve really had a good time having fun and not being judgmental, but I am certainly judging these neighbors with thoughts like “lazy, drunk, stupid, selfish the dog will probablyend-up-in-the-shelter, what can I throw at them?” If I hear radio commercials that say “hip-hop y mas” or hear an ad for indian food by a stoned white girl one more time I’m gonna puke.
Damn, the entry last night was so much better, and I’m having a great time, minus this last half hour, more when my head is clearer.
