a pleasant struggle

Sunday, November 6th, 2005

yesterday we woke up early determined to leave our hotel. it was sincerely starting to look like a brothel (dirty clothes everywhere, filthy bathroom), and yes, we would know what this would look like, read on. we went to two different post offices in the morning trying to sea mail our russian market purchases home to no avail- the sea mail office won’t be open until monday. then we went back to the hotel, packed up, and decided to move to the super qaint “okay guesthouse.” we told them we would be back later with our stuff and they said “okay.” then we met up with vanny for lunch. vanny is a supremely deliciously sweet teen (haha, he is 19) who lives with the monks at a wat (temple) near the river. we walked to the vegetarian restaurant where we met Sroo the other day and had a nice light lunch. then the three of us went to the war museum, S21, the former high school, then pol pot torture prison, and now museum. more on this later.
