“It’s cold here, let’s go.”

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

Dalat was really cold. after boarding the bus in nah trang we arrived in dalat by about 1:30. some super know-it-all australians were on the minibus and we almost killed him although the man who was more annoying than the woman was redeemed by announcing to another australian couple that some australian gov’t official has aussie citizens “by the short and curlies…” as if this wasn’t gross enough he accompanied this statement with a really lewd hand gesture. he was not our friend. crabby in transit

Sunday, October 16th, 2005

it is really early and i am feeling crabby. i am tired and dehydrated and unamused at the moment. yesterday we shipped our multiple kilo boxes out via seamail so all the first round of goodies shoul dbe home by february. it cost me 40 us dollars to rid myself of all that junk. i took pics of the boxes b/c it kind of felt like the last time we would see them. both of our boxes were recycled (they had to be buddhist boxes as they clearly had lived 1,000’s of lives… i am ALLOWED to make bad jokes at this hour of the morning!). Mine had a weird sea-creature bug in it and when i shook out the box yelping a bit, the woman at the post office only shook her head laughng as if there ewere obviously hundreds more bugs hidden in the flaps of the box. we went to a book exchange and i traded some horrid book i picked up at th ehotel for a book caled “the sorrow of war” by a vietnamese author named Binh, someone, i forgot. at 6pm we boarded a bus headed for natrang. i took a pill to sleep but unfortunately could not sleep as i desperately had to pee. apon getting on the bus (6pm) i had to pee immediately 15 minutes later (YES mom, i went before, too). luckily the driver got off to fix somethign so i ran out of the bus and peed on the side of the highway in the rain with most of the bus looking at me out the window. thanks everyone, that was helpful. then at 8:35 i really had to go again, REALLY, so i waited until 9pm but the other driver who spoke english was sleeping and the driver who was driving yelled obsenities at me so i had to wait until 10pm when we fnally stopped but i didn’t even know that we were definitely stopping. aaagh it was rough. then i passed out pretty much until now except that i think the driver had his arm on the horn for about 7 huors because i have a bad headache and some loud slivers of dream fragments i am holding on to this mornign. after about 13 hours we are here in Nah Trang which is kind of a touristy beach town. i jumped off the bus, walked down to the water, bought some nasty sandwhiches, am posting thsi blog, and now the 7 hour bus to Dalat leaves in a few minutes. Until Dalat!
