tubing, zip wires and beer!!
after a day of chilling out and getting used to how beautifull vang vieng really was we all decided to do the famous ‘tubing’ here. we set of about 10 in the morning and got taken up to a spot higher up the river by the tubing company and a load of us set of don stream. as far as you could see downstream the river was dotted with people floating in big orange tubes.
as people had promised the first bar as in sight. so after only a couple of mins floating we got pulled into the first baqr where the mayhem was to begin. the zip wire in to the river here was fairly small but still the wooden construction that you had to climb up was slightly scary. and the trickiest bit was aming your landing so you didnt get youre arms pulled of our land on any one else floating down the river. health and saftey isnt a priority inthis country!!
we set of again this time with beer in hand and floated down stream slowly giving you loads of time to chat to the people around you untill the next bar we topped up on beer then carried on to the large bars that everyone stops at for a while. these have massive rope swing and zip wire going in to the river both flinging you up in the air before landing in the water (again hopefully not on anyone). this was constant entertainment to see people atempting back flips and crazy jumps and landings. the number of failed attempts by people greatly outweighed the ones that pulled it of. so plenty of painfull looking belly flops and dodgy landings. i opted for straight forward landings so that all went ok.

we stayed here sunbathing and playing on the swings for 3 hours then decided to head down stream further. by this time everyone had turned in to one big group so we all set of. this took a while to get about 30 people in to their tubes from the sides with out spilling any beer.
about 200 metres down stream i suddenly looked on my lap and noticed my camera wasnt there so shit my self and me and this aussie girl spent the next 30 mins diving down to look for it i really did think it was lost for good cause the river was fast flowing and it could of gone any where. but she eventually found it buried at the bottem under some sand. i couldnt believe how lucky i was. it was more the pictures that were on the memory card more than the camera. it didnt work for a bout 10 mins but soon startred working again (it is a waterproof camera!) she was a bloody legend so i promised her a massive cocktail later. it was the least i couyld do. i still cant believe she found it.
but the whole tubing day was wicked and it didnt stop there everyone one we had meet that day ent out in the evening and sat by massive fires at the bars on the island in the river. we decided to try the ‘happy’ shakes. they were ok but nothing to massive. dont know if it was the amount of alcohol or they were just shit! they were fun all the same.spent today relaxing by the river swimming and sunbathing. the weather is so bloody hot you cant sunbathe for to long with out having to jump in the river. but i have improved my tan so all good.

Just caught up on a few weeks worth of Jenna adventures and wow what an amazing time you are having honey…..I was actually floating away in dreamworld reading, then the doorbell raneg, oh yeah, i’m in bristol…..so pleased you’re having fun and mischief, if tubing is what I think it is sure I’ve done that i Cornwall, bit different though I guess and cider instead of happy shakes!
All good here, bump getting bigger and bigger, now have no clothes that fit, oh dear! Jay sends his love to, he has no email to send msgs but i’ve been printing him thinks to read and he wanted me to send big hugs to you, consider it done!

I’m so pleased your camera got rescued. We’ve lost a few pictures here and there along the way and it’s just devastating! Phew. Well done that girlie.
Some of our friends tried all sorts of magical stuff in Laos and they had pretty much the same result. Poor shakes. Even poor straight out the bag. Or maybe we’re all just too hard-core now!
