caving

the boys were being useless and just doing nothing so i left them to it hired a motar bike and decided to head of on my own to explore the famous caves that surround vang vieng.  went to the first one close by had to pay 10 000 kip (1 us dollar) to get in then was in there for 10 mins and a crazy man started shouting at me  in thai of course didnt understand what he was saying (my thai isnt that good yet) so decided not to go down the path that he was standing down so promptly walked of in the other direction. he continued to shout then turned all the lights out so i couldnt se a bloody thing in this cave with massive egreat big holes and drops in places so i crawled very slowly and carefully towards the exit. as you can imagine i was shitting my self far to scary with the possible risk of falling down a massive whole all to likely. once i got there the guy conyinued to scream at me and pointed to a sighn saying they close at 11.30 for lunch!!   11.30????? who bloody has lunch at 11.30?? knobhead!!

the next  cave was much more beautifull anyhow.

they were behind the rope swings from the tubing and with crazy ‘steps’ up to it more like just fallen rocks making a kinda climbable path up. once inside it was massive and beautifull. i was quie glad that a familly went in at the same time as me cause i would of been quite scared if i was on my own but the rocks inside were amazing it took about 20 mins to walk to the end of the cave so that was how big it was. at one point i looked up and the ceiling was so far away it looked like a cloudy night sky with different shades of grey and black. it was beautifull.

left vang vieng, and the boys, a couple of days later on the 21st so back on my own again. had phoned the ‘gibbon experiance’ and booked a place on the 24 th. this was odd cause this was the first time in 4 months that i had to be somewhere for a set time/date!! so headed back to lang probang (3rd time of visiting it) to head back to houy xia for the gibbons.

this plan was all good spent 2 days in langprobang just sorting out money etc then caught the fast boat up to houy xia. this only takes 7 hours in stead of the boat i caught down taking 2 days. but still a bloody awfull 7hour journey cramped with legs up on the most uncomfortable dangerous speed boat that everybody had life jackets and crash helmets on apart from me cause they didnt give me one . only to get to houy xia to discover i didnt have my passport so had to cancel the gibbon experiance that i was going to go on and go back to lang probang on the same boat stressing cause had no idea where my pasport was and that i would be stuck in loas for ever. ahhhhhh. found my pasport in the travel agent then headed back up to houy xia on the same boat. i thought 7 hours was bad you should try 3 days??!!!

but all is good managed to book in for the gibbon project on the 26th so i went then.

Surely the chap would have been shouting Lao at you, not Thai? Or have I missed something here…?

When we went to caves in Vang Vieng we paid 5000 to get in and be guided by a few little kids into complete darkness (if we were without torches) and then they tried asking for another ten dollars. No chance, monkey boys.
