Poirier-Tyler 2011 trip

Hello all, We hve just spent a nice hot 4 days in a beautiful guesthouse on the north side of Bali. We had a very pretty room with a view over the pool and into the mountains. It was quite hot … almost too much. It is understandable why most people here don’t do very much, just hang around. We had a day of snorkling on the reefs in the National Park, very nice coral and fish. Then we went scuba diving (2 dives), the children also. Heidi and Alex did great for their first ever underwater dive. We found a restaurant with very friendly owner and we ate their every day, by the end we didn’t even need to order, he knew our favorite foods! The kids would split one bottle of Fanta Strawberry as if they were having a glass of wine, very relaxed. The only road thru the town was the main road around the island so it was a bit busy. We have seen 2 accidents so far, blood on the road. Last one was a drunk guy that got hit by a scooter (the roads are full of scooters!). The beach was interesting with the local fishing boats that go out a night with the lights to catch the few remaining fish.
Today we got a ‘Taxi’ up to a high lake area (Bedugal or Candicuning) and it is actually cool, which is a nice change. We are off to visit a ‘botanical garden’.
