Blogology...

This blog is all about tid bits or advice on travel (and life!) in South America. If your compass could talk, it might say this...

Its Now Or Never

January 27th, 2009

Well, maybe not never. But now is an amazing time to travel. With oil prices being so low and with the huge lull in luxury travel you can jet set at almost a steal. Take a look at online travel sites, airfare auctions, hotel websites and vacation packages and you won’t be disappointed.

If Your Compass Could Talk… it would say, go for it. Take advantage of the deals going on now!

If Your Compass Could Talk…

January 26th, 2009

It would tell you to check out some of South America’s best artists and authors. Read Borge, Marquez; look up Frida Kahlo, Fernando Botero, Diego Rivera and more! When traveling look around you and take it all in. Its all part of the experience.

Traveling The Amazon…

January 21st, 2009

If you’ve taken my advice and peaked an interest in South American travel, consider traveling to Brazil (this is a South American MUST!) and then take a trip through the Amazon. My friend Chad took this tour and said it was no-holds-barred, amazing. Its very rustic and very much so the real deal. Right now South America is booming in terms of travel and with airfares being so low, all you have to do is get down here.

Check out this cool article about traveling the Amazon…

Another word on price increases

January 13th, 2009

But first things first, wouldn’t you just die to be ride one of these buses back in the day? I would!

Anyway, the price increase has gone up and heres what you can expect to pay:

Bus: 1.10 or 1.20 (corresponding to the previous 0.90 and 1.00)

Subte:  1.10

Tren: 0.80

Taxi cabs on the other hand will see the same prices as before. Travel well and travel safe!

Precios goin’ up…

January 12th, 2009

Que lastima para nosotros! Well, it’s not the end of the world exactly – but the price of subway, train, taxi and bus fares will be increasing, yet again. And the Argentine government tries to say inflation isn’t hovering somewhere around 24%. Pfff. In any case, pull out the monedas (if you can find them), 15%-20% increases will begin soon.

Innuendos or direct statements regarding current problems in Argentina in this post alone: price increases, inflation, moneda crisis. Welcome to Argentina. We love it anyway.
