Weekend at the Lake

So, old school gamers night wasn’t much though Charlene and I enjoyed ourselves with our Commodore and Atari. Jonathon brought his Nintendo and we all took turns playing on all three systems. A few days later we got the Sega Genesis working and played Sonic, etc for the whole night.

This past weekend I went to Charlene’s family’s lake lot and had another shot at waterskiing. Charlene coached me in the water and I almost got up… There’s always next year…

At the lot, we were blessed with the presence of an injured butterfly (painted lady?). It’s wings looked fine but possibly head trauma from hitting a car or something kept it around us for over an hour. It didn’t have much of a problem with us getting up close and personal for photos and examination and when it finally left us, it flew ever higher in large circles until it was above the trees and then drifted away.

Monica cooked the whole dinner over the fire and it was all very delicious and healthy. Chicken, scalloped potatoes and onions, fresh garden veggies and dip. Yum! I like to think it counter acted all the toasted marshmallows and other junk I ate that day!

Later on that night we went out on the boat for a little fishing. Charlene ended up rescuing a dragonfly from the surface of the water. (We think it’s wings got wet and was going to drown) It perched on my finger all the way back to the lot where we took plenty of pictures of Alfred. (that’s what I chose to name it… Does anyone know how to tell a boy dragonfly from a girl?) Anyways, after spending about 3 hours of the evening with us vibrating his wings (trying to dry them?) Alfred flew off without saying goodbye. The night ended off with stargazing, fireworks and a beautiful moonrise. The moon was HUGE and looked firey red/orange. It was a stunning colour and at first someone thought it was just a light from a home across the lake. The reflection of the water made it magical. I hope to put some pictures of it up but I fear they might be very blurry as we didn’t have a tripod.

I conclude that I need a new and better camera…
