Telus is Stupid

The other day I was talking to a friend on the phone when all of a sudden I get cut off!! Now, this friend calls me back and is understandably irked because I supposedly hung up on him.

This is not new. For years Telus has always had a tendancy to drop calls from my LAND LINE between 11am and 1pm. It doesn’t happen to every call made during those hours but for awhile it was happening almost on a daily basis. Also, when I realize the call has been dropped, I hang up the phone and pick it back up so I can redial and there sometimes is no dial tone. I have to wait sometimes up to half an hour for a dial tone to come back. And yes, I’ve checked to see that all the other phones in my house are on the hook and that no one was eavesdropping or a phone knocked off the hook or something. So, I’ve called Telus to find a resolution to this issue.

The Telus party line is:

I have too many phones connected.

Stupidest excuse ever. The peon at the helpdesk can’t explain why it only drops calls between 11am and 1pm consistantly and not any other time. I’ve got 5 phones connected. If their is a max number that should be connected, why do they place so many jacks in the house? This is a large house with 4 bedrooms and a den (that’s not counting the basement bedrooms). Don’t they think that a house with this many rooms might conceivably have 5 phones and then account for that when installing the lines?
