Took a cab to the airport with the Austrian Amin. He is a mechanical engineer that likes to travel on the cheap so he can meet people. I had 2 SGDollars left while he had about 14. We had to bum some change off people cuz if there was any sort of traffic, we wouldn’t be able to afford the cab.
Last night when I met him I thought he was hilarious. Smashed out of his mind and chatting it up with every lady boy he could see. I couldn’t understand anything he said either. hahaha.
Coffee and a picture later, we parted ways at the gates.
I met the nicest Aussie in the seat next to mine on the plane into Sydney. He wants to do independent travel but can’t cuz he’s got kids. I told him he could take the kids with him! Well, turns out he knows someone who works at/owns a placement agency so he told me to drop him a line on Monday to see if he could get me a contact. Su-Goy! (wow) He’s a C.O.O. for some company named Distra that does scanning machines for cards like on the MRTs or something and he was really quite chatty about what I should do in Sydney. If only I wasn’t so darned tired, I would have probably been more appreciative and attentive to his advice. As it was I was having a hard time styaing awake.
I have just arrived off the airplane and still very much tired and deprived of sleep. The sleep I did get on the plane was not very refreshing.
Sydney Central YHA is very much like a hotel. the reason the dorm rooms are so expensive (24.00/nt) is cuz there are only 4 to a dorm. I haven’t yet checked out the bathrooms but I’m not sure how long I’ll stay here, I want to take a look around here before moving to a slighty cheaper and smaller hostel, Eva’s Backpacker’s has glowing reviews….
Seems harder to meet people here cuz of the hotel like atmosphere and there are families and stuff.
there’s also a pool on the top floor!
