Speaking my language

I’ve recently found out that in people can speak Fukienese/Hokkien in Singapore which is really cool. Ever since I was little, I thought it was this little known language that basically no one spoke except in some small city in China.

Then when I took a trip to Taiwan, I was told that Taiwanese is derived from Fukienese so I tried my best to figure out what people were saying but the mandarin accent was too strong for me to understand a lick of what anyone was saying. It kinda depressed me cuz I was hoping to practice my chinese and maybe pick up a few words. What was wrong with my family?!?!? Why is our accent so screwed up? So now there’s _A_ family in Edmonton that speakes Fuienese and an enitre island that speaks but I can’t understand a thing! *stupid family*

Boy was I wrong. I’ve been told that the Chinese use it as the language of business in the Philippines and other countries too, Singapore being one of them. They even have a similar accent so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to at least listen to some of what is being said around me. My family didn’t suck because they spoke some unknown language no one used, they sucked cuz they didn’t tell me what Chinese people in countries other than China used Fuienese!!
